Esther Lynch made statements to the local press addressing the need to return to the mechanisms of social dialogue that have been suspended for months in Tunisia, and urged the social parties to look for consensus that guarantees the basic rights of workers and protects the country’s economy from crisis.

It is worth noting that Tunisia has been witnessing economic instability for a long time and signs of a stifling financial crisis. Lynch’s statements came out of concern to protect the conditions of fragile and vulnerable social groups, including workers who have lost their purchasing power in a serious and unprecedented way.

The Secretariat of the Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) declares its full solidarity with Mrs. Esther Lynch, as well as its full solidarity with the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) in its legitimate struggle to protect Tunisian workers.
