University professors protested, on January 28, in front of the cabinet buildings, denouncing the authorities’ delay in implementing their pledges to address the salary structure.
The University Professors Committee had announced the open strike since the beginning of January, stressing that “there is no way to achieve their demands other than protesting, after the deadline it gave to the competent authorities in the government expired” and after it “exhausted all possible means by addressing the competent authorities in the state and following them up, to implement a reform program in the salary structure for university professors licensed by the government.”
It is worth noting that in May 2022 university professors suspended a strike that had lasted for months, after the government promised to implement their demands. However, they returned to the strike after what they described as a “delay by the authorities.”
