Media outlets reported on the Tax Bureau’s Demands Committee that more than 5,000 employees, out of 8,000 employees of the Bureau’s interests across the country, went on strike due to the administration’s arbitrariness in dealing with their demands. The committee clarified that the memorandums and demands were met with complete disregard by officials of the Bureau and the Ministry of Finance.
The demands focused on increasing the minimum wage and improving working conditions. In addition to the demand to cancel the arbitrary transfer of 84 employees, including members of the Claims Committee.
It is worth noting that the employees of the Tax Bureau carried out strikes of varying durations in last December to protest the Bureau’s refusal to negotiate with their committee, claiming that it is an illegal union that has been dissolved. However, the Committee insists that the claims are legitimate, through the mandate granted to it by the workers and that it is a purely demand committee whose tasks end with the fulfilment of the demands.
