The union called for opening a serious dialogue leading to the implementation of the terms of the agreement, especially with regard to raising salaries, with the aim of improving the conditions of porters.
In a statement, the confederation warned of the government and the Mauritanian employers’ federation retracting their commitments to the porters of the port of Nouakchott, hinting at stopping coordination with the port administration until the full rights of the porters are answered. The union also called on workers not to accept voluntary departure in exchange for one million ouguiya.
