In an interview, the trade union leader recalled that the defence decrees “have been instrumental in providing social protection to workers during the pandemic while ensuring stability of jobs in many economic sectors.”
Noting that the national economy is recovering from the impacts of the pandemic, Mazen Ma’aytah stressed, however, that the trade union centre has serious concerns about the future of some jobs when the aforementioned laws are suspended. He added that some companies could take advantage of this measure to restructure their organisation and massively lay off employees.
