In a joint statement, Amnesty International, La Cimade, and Roufère called for a clarification from the French government, which is to place migrants in a detention centre and have consular talks to deport them, describing it as shameful as well as an illegal act against international law.
The organizations reminded “France’s international obligations, which totally prohibit” the deportation of any person to a country where they face the risk of death, torture, and other forms of ill-treatment.
