Jordan: Phenix Centre denounces the conditions of workers in subcontracting companies

In a new report published on 27 December, the Phenix Centre indicated that workers in these companies receive salaries that are less than one-fifth of what regular employees in large companies earn, even though they all perform the same tasks. A technical worker in a large company can earn between 800 and 1,000 Jordanian dinars per month. However, a worker in a subcontracting company will only receive 300 to 600 dinars.

In addition to wage discrimination, these workers face multiple problems such as professional instability, the absence of any trade union representation, and the absence of texts regulating relations with the administrations.

In this context, the Phenix Centre called on the government to stop using these intermediary companies that limit their expenses to the detriment of workers and to develop a legislative framework that protects them and guarantees their rights.
