Palestine: The decline in foreign aid impacts the payment of public employees

While approximately 245,000 people, including civil servants, pensioners, and welfare recipients, are paid directly by the state, the Palestinian government has announced that 80% of the December 2022 salary will be paid, with a minimum threshold of 2,000 shekels ($570) per person. Also, 5% of the amount owed to previous salaries until 31 December 2022 will also be released.

The Palestinian government explained that the rest of the salaries will be released as soon as the necessary financial resources are found.

It is worth noting that approximately 140,000 civil and military employees are currently working in Palestine. The government plans to implement a voluntary retirement plan for 30,000 civil servants in order to fix the current stalemate.
