The head of the syndicate stated that some banks exclude workers with limited incomes from paying their salaries on the basis of Circular No. 161 issued by the Banque du Liban.
The circular requires that banks pay the full amounts to customers in US dollars at the announced rate on a daily basis, in Lebanese pounds against the dollar, instead of paying the amounts that belong to them in Lebanese pounds, according to the cash withdrawal ceiling set for each customer. Therefore, the head of the syndicate mentioned that banks are not obligated to transfer the salaries of workers in the corporation according to the circular.
