Entitled “The State of Political Participation and Representation in Jordan” and released on 18 December in Amman, the study revealed that the majority of Jordanians are concerned about economic issues, but are not interested in politics. Moreover, 50.3% of respondents said they do not trust political parties, trade unions, and civil society organisations.
NAMA recommended a strategy to fight the culture of reluctance to participate in politics, while the Konrad Adenauer Foundation called for a stronger role for citizens in monitoring government performance and in political decision-making.
