In a press conference organised after a meeting held on 16 November at the headquarters of the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), the unions addressed the problems faced by taxi drivers and, in particular, the issue of state subsidies which are exclusively reserved for licence holders.
The trade unions also mentioned the exclusion of non-salaried drivers from social security and health insurance as well as the new ministerial memorandum which was drawn up without consulting the professionals of the sector.
The participants called for the establishment of a new framework law that protects drivers and that frames the entire sector following the example of the organizational text dedicated to the professions of lawyers and notaries.
