The syndicate decided to go on a comprehensive strike in addition to holding a sit-in in front of the Syndicate’s headquarters on October 31, 2022.
In a statement issued on October 28, the syndicate explained that the strike includes “all centres, private clinics, and forensic doctors,” while the alternates continue to work “in all hospitals, emergency cases are received and lives are saved.”
Negotiations between the syndicate and the Presidential Committee did not succeed in finding a solution to the existing crisis, in which doctors demand the cancellation and withdrawal of the presidential decree by law to form a constituent body for a new Medical Syndicate, and which the syndicate considered an assault and a violation of union freedoms in the presence of an elected union body.
In this context, many human rights and trade unions demanded the repeal of this decree by a decision that they accused of aiming at targeting freedoms and trade union work.
