The General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (CGTL) called on civil servants to “accept the government’s offer to provide about three and a half salaries as well as one to two additional days of service until the other demands can be met.” The government has also committed itself to continuing negotiations until the approval of the new budget in order to “fix the situation, especially since the interests of several citizens have been blocked for weeks.”
Reacting to this call, the League of Public Administration Employees affirmed its intention to continue the strike until all demands are met, considering the government’s announcements as insufficient.
It is worth noting that a limited number of civil servants returned to work last week after the government’s announcements, while the majority of workers continued their protest.
