Egypt: Office of Trade Union and Labour Services calls for release of workers imprisoned on trade union and political grounds

Seventeen workers are under provisional arrest for their opinion, while others have already spent between one and two years in prison.

Around 12 of these prisoners are employees in Misr Insurance who were arrested for opposing the public sector regulation, the implementation of which was later suspended following opposition from the trade unions. The rest of these workers are arrested on political grounds.

The Office of Trade Union and Labour Services recalled that it submitted several requests for the release of these workers which have remained unanswered.
