ITUC: North African countries among the worst countries in the index of workers’ rights

The index ranked the Middle East and North Africa region with a score of 4.53 in the Workers’ Rights Index as there is no guarantee of rights due to the collapse of the rule of law, which is among the worst in the world.

 

In this context, Libya was classified among the countries that seriously violate the rights and fundamental freedoms of workers, similar to other countries suffering from armed conflicts. 

 

Tunisia’s ranking deteriorated in this indicator, among the countries in which workers’ freedoms are at risk due to the retreat from democracy and freedoms since the closure of the House of Representatives.

 

The report ranked Algeria among the countries where workers were subjected to arbitrary arrests and detention. 

 

As for Mauritania, it is among the countries where systematic violations of workers’ rights have been recorded. 

 

Morocco was among the countries where workers are subjected to systematic violations of their rights, according to the report.
