The deputy head of the labour committee in the port, Muhammad Al-Battoush, stated that the committee contacted the Ministry of Labour to remind it of the demands it submitted to the Aqaba Authority since 2019, which remained unanswered. The most important of these demands is the provision of safety measures in the workplace to preserve the lives of workers.
The union official added that representatives of the protesters demanded, during a meeting with the Aqaba Governorate, the disbursement of financial allocations to port workers, including 30 Jordanian dinars allowance.
