The video was published on the evening of June 22, and activists stated that the incident took place in Akkar in northern Lebanon, where the landlord tortured Lebanese and Syrians working for him in picking cherries, accusing them of theft to evade paying their wages. When the workers refused the accusations, they were handcuffed, whipped, and humiliated.
The victims’ lawyer, Muhammad al-Baarini, stated that 14 young men worked on the land for several days, and when they finished and decided to return to their homes, they were surprised that the landlord accused them of theft and began torturing them, in an attempt to evade paying their rights.
The young men protested in front of the police station because their complaints were ignored and no progress was made to obtain their rights.
