Tunisia: UGTT confirms that the public sector strike is not political

The union official added that the union is keen to remain a force of proposal within the framework of permanent consideration of the country’s interest. He also affirmed the trade union’s readiness for serious and responsible dialogue, taking into account the economic and social situation in the country.

It is worth noting that the UGTT refused to participate in the national dialogue, which was called for by President Kais Saied pursuant to Decree No. 30. UGTT explained its position based on the lack of clarity of vision concerning public and individual rights, freedom of trade union work and protest, and freedom of expression.
