According to a statement by the municipality, the daily wage of an 8-hour construction worker was set at 150,000 Lebanese pounds ($98). The wage of a man will be 100,000 Lebanese pounds ($95) for an 8-hour shift. For women, the wage is reduced to 75,000 Lebanese pounds ($49) for the same number of working hours.
The statement indicated that the hourly wage of an agricultural worker is 10,000 Lebanese pounds ($6). For women it is 7,000 Lebanese pounds ($4).
It is worth noting that the United Nations Human Rights Council confirmed in a report that the treatment of Syrian refugees in Lebanon is based on discrimination, harassment, violence, and hate speech, noting that Syrian refugees are seen as a source of competition for jobs, support, and public services in Lebanon.
