The government’s offer to unions includes unifying the minimum wage in the agricultural sector (SMAG) with the minimum wage in the sectors of industry, commerce and liberal professions (SMIG) in stages, improving the purchasing power of wages by reducing income tax in the public and private sectors, and raising the “quota”. Negotiations also include promotion and enabling employees who have not accumulated the 3240 days authorized by the National Social Security Fund to be entitled to a retirement pension after paying their remaining contributions, and studying the possibility of reducing the number of days authorized to receive the pension.
The government also proposes institutionalizing social dialogue, by stipulating the holding of two meetings per year between the presidency of the government and trade union leaders, the first to enable unions to make their observations and suggestions on the bill finance law, and the second to find appropriate solutions to important issues and exchange views on the problems of workers.
