Jordan: The Jordanian Labour Observatory recommends revising the trade union law

The report warned of the need to amend the provisions of the labour law related to the formation of labour unions, to allow all wage workers in Jordan to have their trade unions freely, and to abolish the monopoly on the representation of workers from the existing trade unions, which the report described as lacking the most basic rules of democratic work.

The report also called for the adoption of new mechanisms and methods for settling labour disputes in view of the recorded failure to find just solutions to escalating labour disputes, and in line with the provisions of International Labour Organization Convention No. 98 on the right to organize and collective bargaining.
