Lebanon: Employees of Saint George Hospital go on an open strike

In a statement, the protestors explained that “the employees of Saint George Hospital are no longer able to work with the current salary conditions in view of the deterioration of the economic situation in Lebanon and the increase in fuel prices,” adding that “salaries are still calculated on the exchange rate of 1,500 pounds to the dollar and are not paid on time.”

The employees also recalled that the authorities asked them to wait until 1 April, when a new administration took office, for their demands to be met. The deadline passed without any response to the employees’ demands, which led them to go on open strike to defend their rights.
