In a statement issued on 25 January, UNHCR expressed its appreciation to Jordan for its great progress in integrating Syrian refugees into the labour market, stressing that “62 thousand work permits were issued to Syrians in 2021,” enabling them to contribute to national economic activity and support themselves.
The statement also mentioned that the majority of Syrians have obtained work permits in the agriculture, construction, and industry sectors. Since last summer, Syrian refugees have been allowed to work in other sectors such as health, services, sales and crafts.
