The spokesman of the the Kamour protest Tarek Haddad said “we are surprised to know that after the agreement to cancel all legal proceedings against the protesters, the protest movement coordinator was arrested by the police.”
Tarek Haddad called on the President of the Republic to implement the Kamour agreement and recalled that the protesters agreed to reopen the oil valves after the government committed itself to recruit young people and make important investments in the region.
The agreement includes recruiting 250 young people by oil companies in the region, financing the investment fund of 80 million dinars (30 million dollars), and financing projects for the benefit of young people in the region.
Protests are still going on in the region where inhabitants have threatened to escalate after the President of the Republic cancelled law 38 concerning the recruitment in the civil service for people who have spent more than 10 years unemployed.
