Algeria:  Compensation for workers in the education sector impacted by COVID-19

On November 22, the National Committee for Social Services, in the Algerian Ministry of Education, decided to compensate workers in the education sector who were impacted by COVID-19 (around 35,000 workers). The budget is estimated at 50,000 Algerian dinars. The decision aims at reducing health care fees.

The decision has been taken when one of the affected workers submitted his file for the governorate’s committee before paying the necessary fees. COVID-19 tests (whether through a PCR test or a scan) will be covered by half. Agreements with many medical laboratories across the country will, also, be signed.

The Ministry of National Education has expanded access to social aid for workers, in order to help improve their purchasing power in accordance with legal measures.
