Morocco: Poor working conditions of the female labour force in the agricultural sector

The female labour force in the agricultural sector in Morocco complains about their weak professional conditions, and particularly the authorities’ indifference to develop the sector that has an important role in the economy of the country.

Women working in agricultural sector live in a poor economic and social conditions and they are victims of unsafe working conditions when it comes to their transportation. They, also, witness verbal attacks, marginalization, and gender base financial discrimination, and their deprivation of contracts and social insurance.

Female agricultural workers in Morocco demand better working conditions, including long-term contracts with social security, working at peak times to negotiate their daily wages, and receiving the payment daily upon completion of work.

Creating trade unions within the facilities in all agricultural areas in cooperation with the state has been demanded. It is a way to prove the daily suffering of the workers supported by reports and studies.

Moroccan agricultural workers are not part of trade union organizations, making social negotiation in the sector all the more difficult. Their list of demands is absent.
