In a joint report, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor and ImpACT International for Human Rights Policies stated that Sub-Saharan African migrant workers in the UAE were victims of arrest, violence, and deportation in June 2021.

The report, entitled “They Hate Black People,” stated that experts relied on the testimonies of more than 100 workers, most of them come from Uganda, Cameroon, and Nigeria. Most of them had a legal status and jobs like cleaners, nurses, and electricians.

The report stated that UAE authorities arrested about 800 Sub-Saharan African workers. The latter were illegally detained, mistreated, and then deported in groups.
