Libyan security authorities announced on 12 September the arrest of an individual involved in the kidnapping and torture of Egyptian workers in Al Ajaylat, west of the capital Tripoli.
The case dates back to early April this year when the accused kidnapped and tortured Egyptian workers before sending photos to their families to demand a ransom.
The Libyan newspaper Al Marsad reported that the individual, who was involved in human trafficking, was running a criminal smuggling network and involved with international networks of irregular migration.
