Egypt: Workers in Universal Group protest to receive their salaries

The General Union of Private Sector Workers announced that about 2,000 workers in the Universal Company Group in the Industrial Zone in 6th of October are protesting against not receiving their July and August salaries and other financial dues that have been suspended for a long time. The protestors work in 5 factories from a total of 9.

It is worth noting that the administration signed an agreement in October 2019 with the Ministry of Manpower and did not commit to paying salaries. The Ministry of Labour paid the salaries of the workers, who are more than 5,000 workers, for a period of 6 months from the emergency fund to motivate the institution not to dismiss workers, but the institution deliberately forced them to resign.
