In a statement to the newspaper Al Shaab News, of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), the general secretary of the Tunisian Federation of Textiles and Clothing expressed his concern about the workers’ situation in textile factories, and particularly the North Africa Textile Factory in Sfax. He stated that the workers’ protest is legitimate.
The trade union official called on the concerned authorities to intervene, particularly in the light of the workers’ poor conditions. He, also, mentioned that the federation is currently working on the workers’ problems and denounced the violations in the textile industry.
It is worth noting that the protestors were violently attacked by the owner of the company. Therefore, they started protesting.
