Egypt: LORD International Company violates the workers’ rights

The administration of LORD International Company decided to suspend 39 workers. The administration will start investigations on 9 August for having an illegal protest and causing financial and ‘moral’ losses to the company.

Seven workers were, also, dismissed, which makes the total of dismissed workers 45. The decision came after the workers ended the strike and returned to work as has been agreed with the company.

It is worth noting that the protestors launched a strike on the 26th of July which lasted for a week to demand: salary increase in accordance with the minimum wage of 2,400 pounds (the average wage for workers who have spent ten years in the company is 2,000 pounds), recruiting contractual workers, changing annual contracts to permanent ones, paying the annual profits altogether instead of monthly, and increasing shift allowances.
