Workers in the Maghrebian Land Transport Company (SMTT), which specializes in transporting fuels and hazardous materials, protested from 26th to 28th July against the current working conditions.
The general secretary of the company’s trade union said that the strike did not include the drivers of trucks that provide oxygen to hospitals.
The strike was decided after the failure of negotiations with the administration and its refusal to respond to the workers’ demands including the arbitrary dismissals and wage deductions due to accidents.
The union attributes the causes of accidents to the absence of assistants which leads the drivers to carry out the tasks of transportation, shipping, and distribution on their own.
