The implementation of the insurance decision on the employment contract of domestic workers, at the beginning of 2020 has been announced in Saudi Arabia. The decision aims at improving the relationship between the contracting parties, and reducing the risks in the recruitment of domestic workers.
Al eqtisadiah newspaper stated on behalf of the ministry that this decision seeks to compensate the employer for the expenses of bringing a new domestic worker in the cases of death, disability to work, or chronic disease of the worker.
It will also enable the employer to compensate for the expenses of returning the body of the domestic worker and his personal belongings in the event of death. The insurance will also enable the employer to be compensated in the event of the worker’s absence or abstention from work or disability resulting from work accidents.
