Tamkeen Centre for Legal Aid and Human Rights and the Jordanian Ministry of Labour organised a round table on child labour on 17 June in the context of fighting child labour in risky sectors.
In this context, the Ministry announced creating a new platform, hemayeh.jo, dedicated to complaints about violations against children.
The director of Tamkeen talked about the impact of COVID-19 on children who work after school. She said that many of these children have been forced to drop out of school to work because of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. The Ministry of Labour said it had intercepted 236 cases of child labour from January to the end of May this year, compared to 503 cases in 2020.
