Workers at the Sidon waste sorting plant returned to work on 3 July after a two-day strike. The workers went on strike to call for a salary increase in parallel with the dollar exchange rate used by the banks, i.e. 3,900 pounds, which was initially refused by the administration.
A representative of the workers mentioned that the strike was ended after the Sidon administration calculated the wages on the basis of the exchange rate of 3,000 pounds. A new meeting will be held to issue a formal agreement that wages will be calculated on the basis of the exchange rate approved by the banks (up to 75%).
