The General Institution of Social Security started receiving the files of workers holding a self-employment permit on 1 July 2021 in order to integrate them into social coverage. In order do so, workers must pay a contribution that covers the entire period of their work permit.
In this context, the General Institution of Social Security has indicated that this measure aims at strengthening the regulation of the labour market by integrating this category of workers into the system of social coverage.
It is worth noting that this coverage includes insurance against work accidents, unemployment, maternity, death, and natural disability. The new measure allows certain categories to partially subscribe to social security. Foreign workers wishing to obtain a self-employment permit can also subscribe by applying in the official website of the institution.
