On June 26, the National Railway Transport Company issued a statement on the implementation of the guaranteed national minimum wage (20,000 Algerian dinars) starting from June 2021.
This decision comes after the Presidential Decree No. 21-137 of April 07, 2021, which determines the guaranteed national minimum wage, and the provisions of Article 52 of the company’s collective agreement.
With regard to the possible negative effects of the decision, starting from June 2020, the company stated, that last May an invitation was sent to the social partner to set a special calendar for the payment of the workers’ financial dues in light of the critical financial situation the railway company is undergoing.
