Tunisia: Café workers in Siliana protest against the general lockdown decision

Café workers protested on June 24, in Siliana against the decision of the general lockdown and closed the main road in front of the government’s headquarters.

 

The protesters told TAP that the decision did not consider the workers’ social conditions. In fact, 360 cafe workers were affected by the pandemic. They demand urgent solutions as many of them do not enjoy social coverage.

 

The governor of Siliana stated that café workers can enjoy a grant of 200 dinars from the Ministry of Social Affairs by registering in a platform created for them if they pay taxes and participate in the National Social Security Fund.
