The General Syndicate of Banks, Taxes, Insurance, and Financial Business has called for a partial strike starting on Sunday, June 20, to protest against the Transitional Council’s interventions seeking to interfere in trade union work.
A union statement mentioned that the decision to protest was taken in response to the council’s attempt to impose a “fictitious entity,” with the complicity of the Social Affairs and Labour Office in Aden, to exclude elected trade union leaders.
The trade union accused the Transitional Council of supporting figures not working within the trade union, but under the so-called Federation of Southern Trade Unions, with the aim of politicizing trade union work at the expense of employees.
