The National Centre for Human Rights in Iraq recently called on the Iraqi government to address the phenomenon of child labour and to adopt the “Good Childhood” project in light of ratifying the two International Covenants on civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, and approving a bill on the protection of children.
The centre stressed the need to take measures to guarantee the right of children to a decent life, education, health, family, and societal stability, to address illiteracy of children, and fight their exploitation by organized crime gangs and traffickers.
In this context, the National Centre for Human Rights called on the government to adopt the “Good Childhood” project in order to protect future generations from exploitation and support the implementation of the National Human Rights Plan.
