In the light of the ongoing dispute in the Alexandria spinning and weaving company the administration on May 8th prevented members of the trade union committee for workers from entering the company’s headquarters and carrying out their trade union work.
The administration has already suspended the members of the trade union committee from work. The lawsuit against them, on their dismissal from work, is still ongoing.
It is worth noting that the dispute started with the company’s arbitrary dismissals after firing 230 workers and transferring others to the company’s branch in Menoufia. The Trade Union Committee denounced these arbitrary measures and denounced the company’s failure to pay the workers’ salaries.
Therefore, the Centre for Trade Unions and Workers Services (CTUWS) called on the authorities and the Ministry of Manpower to investigate the complaints submitted by employees of the Alexandria Spinning and Weaving Company and its Trade Union Committee regarding the violations that took place.
