On May 25, 2021, the Tunisian Parliament approved a bill aiming at exceptionally recruiting construction workers for those aged between 45 and 55 yearly and approving the demands of those who wish to quit voluntarily.
The bill comes after the protest of construction workers aged between 45 and 55 against the agreement between the government and the trade union, enabling them to obtain a leave check of 20,000 dinars to be paid to them at the end of March 2021, provided that they continue to work until the end of February 2021. This group continues to benefit from health coverage and the state will continue to pay contributions to the National Social Security Fund.
It is worth noting that the agreement concluded between the government and the trade union on October 20, 2020 stipulated the regularization of the status of about 31,000 of the workers of the regional and agricultural settlements.
