Lebanon: Workers of the public sector to start a three-days strike

The administrative body of the Public Administration Employees Association announced, in a statement, launching a comprehensive three-day strike, from June 2, 2021, in all public administrations and institutions of an administrative nature.

This strike is part of protest movements that the employees previously have undertaken to demand improving their financial conditions in light of the economic and financial crisis that Lebanon is currently witnessing.

The association’s administrative body demanded decreasing work to 50% (part time), and denouncing full-time work, as long as the responsible authorities did not find a solution to secure the workers’ basic life needs, especially the cost of transportation to their job venues, fix their health and economic problems, increase the workers’ salaries to strengthen their purchasing power.

The authority also called for an advance or ration tickets to employees and to increase the transport grant.
