The Iraqi government has recently submitted a bill on child protection to the parliament. In this regard, the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee has called for firm measures against child labour and to criminalise their exploitation in forced labour that should not be age-limited.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee expressed concern over child labour in Iraq, calling it a violation of children’s rights. He stressed the need to issue legislations to eradicate this phenomenon, recalling the important role of the executive and judiciary branches in the implementation of laws related to this issue.
