Turkey: European Support for a New Recruitment Labour System of Syrian Workers

The Turkish newspaper, Hürriyet Daily News, reported that a new support system will soon be implemented in Turkey for Syrian workers to facilitate their social integration.

The support program will be funded by the German KIGEP program, and will be supervised by the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services.

The newspaper added that this program will facilitate the employment of Syrian workers in documented government companies and businesses. Hürriyet mentioned that the company that employs Syrian workers will receive the equivalent of 160 US dollars per month (equivalent to 1,250 Turkish liras). The job support program will include 3,750 Syrian employees.

Employers wishing to be part of the program are required to secure the job without interruption and pay social insurance. The program will also cover one-time work permits for all workers covered by this support system.

It is worth noting that about 3 million 700 thousand Syrians reside in Turkey, according to the statistics of the Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management for the year 2021.
