Firefighters protested on Sunday May 2nd. They marched to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Civil Protection to protest against their poor working and social conditions.
The protestors urged that their professional and material demands should be met. They, also, demand the release of their colleague who was suspended as well as returning their dismissed colleagues.
Their banners included their demands such as a salary increase, a regularizing their situation concerning the national service, obtaining disease grants, and revising the basic law and the suspended grants.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection issued a statement days ago recognizing the legitimate demands of the workers and making it clear that they are included in the Basic Law on Civil Protection, and confirming that it would reconsider their demands.
