The National Federation of Employees’ and Workers’ Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL) has called on trade unions, civil society, and all citizens to protest in the streets on October 17th to oppose the “impoverishment policy.”
The press release published on May 11th by FENASOL came as a reaction to the lifting of subsidies by the end of the month by the authorities as Lebanon sinks into an unprecedented socio-economic crisis.
The trade union denounced the policy of the Bank of Lebanon and the Ministry of Labour, which has made no provision for the increasing unemployment rate. FENASOL also warned against the monopoly and the illegal sending of money abroad that continue to take place despite the alarming situation of the country.
