Minimum Wage: Tunisia Ranked Last in the Arab world

Economic expert Mohamed Sadok Jabnoun said that Tunisia has the lowest minimum wage in the Arab world.

In a media statement, the expert said that the report of the International Alert organisation revealed that between 40 and 50% of the inhabitants of Tunis do not have the necessary resources for a decent life.

Mohamed Sadok Jabnoun said that this figure was not surprising and explained that the minimum wage for the various trades in Tunisia is around 420 dinars, one of the lowest in the Arab world, including the Palestinian minimum wage of 268 dollars.

According to the same source, the real poverty rate recorded after COVID-19 exceeded 21%, which means that about 2.5 million Tunisians live below the poverty line.
