Lebanon: Drivers Protest against the Economic Conditions

Drivers who are affiliated with the road transport unions in Lebanon carried out a four-hour strike in many governorates, accompanied by a twenty-minute protest in several regions to protest against the deteriorating economic and social conditions in the country.

This protest, also, comes against the new fuel prices suggested twice. The drivers demanded a cost of living allowance.

In this regard, the head of the federations and unions of the land transport sector stated that drivers will carry out rallies and sit-ins, without a road blockage, in protest against fuel prices and the absence of governmental sponsorship in this sector.

The head of the drivers’ union in Tripoli demanded that a wide popular protest takes place against the humiliation of people at the mechanical inspection (periodic inspection of cars).
