Algeria is facing a crisis caused by the illegal immigration from the Sahel region. A governmental source mentioned that no less than a thousand sub-Saharan African immigrants arrive daily from secret transit routes to Tamanrasset in the south of Algeria.
Since many European Union countries want North African countries to block the illegal immigration flux towards their countries, an Algerian government official denounced that Algeria should be a guardian of European borders by controlling illegal immigration.
The same source stated that the security measures adopted by European countries to decrease illegal immigration is not successful. Instead, he states that the best solution to solve the immigration crisis is to devote a budget to these countries and particularly provide jobs for sub-Saharan African youth in their countries.
The latter, also, stated that, in recent years, Algeria has deported thousands of immigrants to their countries. Algeria has, also, devoted a $30 million budget to face the threat of illegal immigration in the coming years.
